Quick Trip to the Windy City

My mother in law took me and Mary Drew up to Chicago for a quick trip. She had promised to take MD to the American Girl Doll store before school started. Mary Drew never forgets a promise so we hopped on a plane and hit up Michigan Avenue!

A few months ago I had given her my old 'Molly' doll. Her hair was a mess considering she was a 28 year old doll. So our first stop at AG was to take Molly to the doll hospital.

We got her all " checked in" and sent her off to be fixed up. She will have a new and improved head when she arrives back.... Complete with hospital gown and bracelet!

Next up,we knew that we wanted to get Emily, Molly's best friend. They are retiring Molly this year so once they are gone- they are gone! We learned that the hard way last year with McKenna!

We got Emily and a few other goodies and then spent some time looking at all the other dolls. I have to give it to AG- they know their audience! I will say I loved my Molly doll growing up and I loved the books and her stories and I hope Mary Drew loves them as much as I did. It makes me so happy that she loved my old doll even though her hair was a matted mess.

And here is Emily

In front of each girls section they had windows or "glimpses" into the time period of that particular doll. This was in front of Molly's kitchen. She grew up during WW II- you learn a lot of history through the books.

The trip wouldn't have been complete without a quick visit with an old friend. My good friend Lauren or Staley as we call her lives there and we were lucky enough to grab lunch!

Now we are in the final countdown to kindergarten! 3 days..... Sniff, Sniff!
