Gran Dee Dee's 100th Birthday!

I know I have mentioned more than once that Griffin's grandmother turned 100 a few weeks ago. We celebrated her birthday with lots of family and friends.

A little background for those of you that are new around here...

Griffins grandmother, Mary Drew or " Judy" as most people call her lives out in the country. In Mason, TN... About 45 minutes outside of Memphis. It is also the place where we got engaged and married. As well as( under the same tree) where Griffin's grandparents were married. Basic point? A lot of history in this tiny town. And everyone knows and loves Mrs. Judy! She gets a an Easter Lilly and recognized at her church on Easter Sunday for being the oldest member... She is well respected and has never met a stranger.

I had the privilege of knowing her before her strokes and what a spitfire she was! And still is! She is kind, smart, loving, generous and very funny. She leaned over to a cousin at her birthday party and said " Well, some of these people sure have gotten fat."

Griffin and I feel very blessed to have his Grandmother in our lives and are so thankful that Mary Drew has gotten to know and lover her, too. She is one special lady!!!

Without further delay here are some pictures.... Wish I had gotten more of all the guests but it was so chaotic.

And one more neat little thing... When Judy ( Griffin's mom) had the cake made she had them put 100 flowers on the cake! So neat!

* one more thing in case you are still reading this and wondering why people call her Judy when her name is Mary Drew... Took me forever to piece this together but a long time ago there used to be a show called "The Punch and Judy" show??? Not sure but her and her sister wound up with the nicknames and they stuck!
